Changes in the Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis fight card: Cherneka Johnson will defend her titles

An injury to unified junior featherweight champion Ellie Scotney during training has led to the cancellation of her fight against WBA titleholder Mayelli Flores. This change comes on the undercard of the highly anticipated matchup between Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis, scheduled for November 14th. Instead, Most Valuable Promotions has announced that the undisputed women’s bantamweight champion, Cherneka “Sugar Neekz” Johnson (18-2, 8 KOs), will defend her titles against Amanda Galle (12-0-1, 1 KOs), headlining the preliminary card.

“‘Sugar Neekz’ Johnson is ready to become the first undisputed Australian champion to defend her titles in the four-belt era, while the main Canadian 118-pound contender, Amanda Galle, has the opportunity to make a name for herself worldwide and become the first undisputed champion born in Canada,” stated Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder and CEO of Most Valuable Promotions.

Bidarian added: “Even with little notice, this will be an action-packed fight with both boxers willing to give it their all on Friday, November 14th. We wish Ellie Scotney a speedy recovery and look forward to supporting her return as soon as possible, as she continues her path towards full unification.” The severity of Scotney’s injury has not yet been determined, but Most Valuable Promotions hopes to reschedule the fight as soon as possible.

“I’m excited to get back in the ring before the end of the year! It’s been a while since I’ve been this active, and I love it,” Johnson expressed. “I’m eager to be part of the big Jake Paul vs. Tank Davis card, showcase the improvements we’ve been working on, and take my belts home. Amanda Galle approached me after my fight against Shurretta Metcalf in New York, showed respect and said she wanted what I have; I can’t blame her, I would chase all the belts too.”

Johnson comes into this defense after her technical knockout victory in the ninth round against Metcalf in July, which made her the first undisputed Australian champion in the four-belt era. For her first title defense, she will face an undefeated Canadian looking to cause an upset.

“I’ve invested my time! I’ve been in the shadow of these big names, working in silence and I’ve earned a place at the table,” said Galle. “The best promotion in the world has included me in its list and I want a chance against the best. I am the undisputed bantamweight champion. Canada knows it, the world is about to know it!”

In her most recent fight, Galle obtained a unanimous decision over Alondra Hernandez in September.
