Breaking News in Boxing! Jake Paul vs. Gervonta “Tank” Davis in November
Boxing fans are in luck. Two of the most important names in pugilism will face each other on November 14 at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta. The expected fight between Jake Paul and Gervonta “Tank” Davis has been confirmed, promising an event of epic proportions. Although the contractual weight and the number of rounds have not yet been defined, the fight promises to be an unforgettable spectacle. The promotion will be handled by Most Valuable Promotions, Paul’s company, and will be broadcast live globally via Netflix. Conversations between both teams began at the beginning of the year. Initially, the fight was planned after Davis’s WBA lightweight title defense against Lamont Roach Jr. However, an unexpected majority draw between Roach and Davis in March delayed the plans. Rumors of a rematch in August did not materialize, which led the parties to resume negotiations and finally close the deal for the November showdown.“The original timeline assumed that ‘Tank’ would fight Jake [Paul] after fighting Roach,” commented Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions. “The result didn’t necessarily change anything per se, but our waiting time to see what Davis was going to do resulted in Jake fighting Julio César Chávez Jr.”

Although it was speculated that Paul would secure the fight with Davis after the failure of talks for a heavyweight bout with former unified champion Anthony Joshua, Bidarian clarified that the latter is still on the table and was never planned for 2025.

“We’re still figuring it out,” Bidarian said, without committing to the fight being an exhibition, as other media outlets reported. “Jake will definitely have to come down from the 200 pounds he’s been fighting at. I can tell you that we will have a fight that will have a definitive result, either by knockout or by decision.”

This weight difference is reminiscent of the exhibition between Logan Paul, Jake’s brother, and Floyd Mayweather in June 2021. Mayweather, who usually competes at 147 pounds, weighed 155 pounds, while Paul weighed 189.5 pounds. The fight, which consisted of eight rounds, had no winner and generated more than a million pay-per-view purchases, with revenue exceeding 80 million dollars.
The Paul-Davis face-off, with higher expectations, will be broadcast to an even larger audience via Netflix. Paul seeks to establish himself as a full-time boxer. Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) has been competing at cruiserweight and is ranked number 14 by the WBA, following his victory over Chavez in June. His aspirations of becoming a world champion are postponed for this cultural event against Davis, whom he has been challenging since August 2021, including Nate Diaz, Tyron Woodley, Tommy Fury, KSI, and Canelo Álvarez on his list of potential opponents.Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs), one of boxing’s biggest attractions, has never competed above 140 pounds. In his last six fights, since December 2021, he has fought at lightweight (135 pounds). His April 2023 fight against Ryan García at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas was a resounding success, with 1.2 million PPV buys and revenue of $22.8 million, the fifth highest in the history of American boxing. Davis, 30, faced legal problems during the summer for a misdemeanor assault charge, stemming from an alleged domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend on Father’s Day. The charges were dropped last week. Davis will resume his boxing career against a former YouTuber who has also become a prominent figure in boxing.“Gervonta is an angry goblin who has been disrespecting my name for far too long,” Paul declared. “His nickname may be Tank, but I am an FPV drone and I am going to take him down. Yes, he is one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world, but my motto is anyone, anytime, anywhere, against all odds. And I like my chances. First, I’m going to kill David, then I’m going to slaughter Goliath, and you’re all going to watch me do it, breaking viewership records again. Atlanta. Friday, November 14th. The worst night of Gervonta’s career, only live on Netflix”.

“This is a fight between the world’s greatest fighters for Generation Z and Generation Alpha audiences,” Bidarian stated. “It’s really about who is the true face of American boxing and I see it as The Disruptor [Paul] versus The Destroyer [Davis]”.
