Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua: A Clash of Giants in December

The boxing world is gearing up for an epic showdown. YouTuber turned boxer, Jake Paul, will face former heavyweight world champion, Anthony Joshua, in a professional fight on December 19th at the Kaseya Center in Miami. The event, which promises to be an unprecedented spectacle, will be broadcast live on Netflix. The fight, scheduled for eight rounds of three minutes each, will be held with 10-ounce gloves, the standard for heavyweight fights. This matchup marks a radical change for Paul, who was originally scheduled to face Gervonta “Tank” Davis in an exhibition fight. Instead of an exhibition against a professional boxer with a strong punch, Paul will now face a former heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist, a boxer with far superior experience and trajectory.

“This is not an AI simulation. This is Judgment Day. A professional heavyweight fight against an elite world champion in his prime. When I beat Anthony Joshua, every doubt will disappear and no one will be able to deny me the opportunity to fight for a world title. To all my detractors, this is what you wanted. To the people of the UK, I’m sorry. On Friday, December 19th, under the lights in Miami, live and worldwide only on Netflix, the torch is passed and the Goliath of Great Britain goes to sleep”.

Jake Paul
Paul, with a record of 12-1 (7 KOs), is still a novice in boxing, with little amateur experience and only 70 rounds as a professional since 2020. On the other hand, Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) is one of the most decorated and hardest-hitting heavyweights, with more than 160 rounds in his 12 years as a professional.

“Jake or anyone can get this work. No mercy. I took some time off and I’m coming back with a mega show. It’s a great opportunity for me. Whether I like it or not, I’m here to make big numbers, have big fights, and break all records while remaining calm and composed. Mark my words, you will see many more fighters take advantage of these opportunities in the future. I’m about to break the internet on Jake Paul’s face.”

Anthony Joshua
In his last fight in September 2024, Joshua was stopped in the fifth round of his IBF title fight against Daniel Dubois. Following the defeat, he opted to undergo elbow surgery and had been out of action since then. The CEO of Most Valuable Promotions, Nakisa Bidarian, commented: “Everyone laughed when Jake Paul said in March that he wanted to fight AJ in 2026. Well, plans changed and, in less than two weeks, MVP and Netflix have made one of the biggest fights of all time. Now, as only Jake Paul could and would, he is fighting against one of the most fearsome boxers in the world. Joshua has all the advantages in this fight, except one: Jake Paul’s delusional confidence, and if anyone can surprise the world, it’s him. This is a global clash between two of the most recognizable figures in the sport, Jake, the face of the new era of boxing, and Joshua, the King of UK boxing.” The fight with Joshua, initially planned for 2026, was brought forward after the cancellation of the fight with Davis. Paul’s promotion quickly sought a new opponent after the cancellation with Davis, and now Paul will face the most difficult challenge of his young career. Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, stated: “They say you have to be careful what you wish for, I feel that’s all I need to say. Two of the biggest names in the sport will clash on December 19th. While I admire Jake’s balls, he’ll find out the hard way in Miami.”
