Jake Paul Dominates Julio César Chávez Jr. in Cruiserweight Bout

Jake Paul defeated Julio César Chávez Jr. by unanimous decision in a 10-round cruiserweight bout held Saturday at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California (DAZN PPV). The judges ruled the scores 99-91, 97-93 and 98-92. Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) extends his winning streak to six fights, following his split-decision loss to Tommy Fury in February 2023. Previously, Paul had defeated Mike Tyson by unanimous decision in November. Chávez (54-7-1, 34 KOs), former WBC middleweight world champion, won the title with a majority decision victory against Sebastian Zbik in June 2011, successfully defending it three times. This was Chávez’s third consecutive cruiserweight fight. The fight had important implications for Paul. A victory over Chávez could mean his entry into the WBC ranking in the 200-pound category, bringing him closer to his goal of fighting for a world title.

The WBC’s classification committee has been following Jake Paul’s career. If he beats Chávez, and depending on how the fight unfolds, the committee will make a decision. It is very likely that Paul will be ranked if he wins convincingly.
