The event “The Ring IV: Night of the Champions” in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was much more than a fight card; it had a significant impact on various weight categories.

Champions Night Summary

Abdullah Mason, 21 years old, achieved a unanimous decision victory over Sam Noakes, becoming the youngest current world champion by winning the WBO lightweight title. Mason demonstrated his skill, but had to employ great stamina and excellent body work to overcome an opponent who did not give up. Mason’s victory placed him in eighth place in his division’s ranking. Devin Haney ascended to the top of the welterweight rankings by defeating Brian Norman Jr., winning the WBO title with an impressive boxing display. Haney knocked down Norman in the second round and never looked back, using his jab to neutralize his opponent. Norman fell three places in the rankings, placing at number 4. Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez solidified his position at number 1 by defeating Fernando Martinez, unifying three super flyweight titles. Martinez remains at number 2, considering he has two victories over Kazuto Ioka, who holds the third position in the ranking. David Benavidez’s dominant victory over Anthony Yarde secured his place as number 3 in the light heavyweight division, behind Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol. However, Benavidez announced that he will move up to cruiserweight for his next fight, challenging Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez on Cinco de Mayo weekend. Boxing rankings highlight the best in each weight category. These rankings change according to recent results and the performance of the boxers. Those who announce a change of category will be included in the new division, once they fight in it. Champions with titles in two divisions can be ranked in both. Boxers who have not competed in the last 12 months, and do not have a scheduled fight, will be removed from the rankings until they fight again. Any boxer who tests positive for performance-enhancing substances will also be removed. To get a list of the current champions in all weight categories, see the champions section.
