Fundora vs. Thurman: Title defense postponed due to injury
The expected defense of Sebastian Fundora’s WBC junior middleweight title against Keith Thurman, scheduled for October 25th, has been postponed. The main reason is a hand injury Fundora suffered during his training. Fundora’s team, led by his manager Sampson Lewkowicz, confirmed the news along with representatives from Premier Boxing Champions. It has been decided to postpone the entire event.Fundora and Thurman were to be the main stars of the “PBC on Prime” event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. PBC hopes to reschedule the fight as soon as the extent of Fundora’s injury and recovery time are known. The co-main event between WBC junior lightweight champion O’Shaquie Foster and featherweight titleholder Stephen Fulton will also be rescheduled. This is the second time the Foster-Fulton fight has been rescheduled, as it was originally planned for August. Fundora, with a record of 23-1-1 and 15 KOs, was looking for his third fight in 2025. This year, he achieved knockouts over Tim Tszyu and Chordale Booker. The fight against Thurman represented a high-profile title defense for “The Towering Inferno”. Thurman, with a record of 36-1 and 23 KOs, aspired to obtain the junior middleweight title for the second time. In March, Thurman withdrew from a WBC title fight against Tszyu due to an injury, being replaced by Fundora.
