Fundora vs. Thurman: Fight Postponed Due to Injury

The expected WBC super welterweight title fight between Sebastian Fundora and Keith Thurman, scheduled for October 25th, has been postponed due to a hand injury Fundora suffered during training. Sampson Lewkowicz, Fundora’s manager, along with representatives from Premier Boxing Champions (PBC), confirmed the news and the postponement of the event.

Fundora will return in January 2026.

The fight between Fundora and Thurman was set to be the main event of the “PBC on Prime” card at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. PBC hopes to reschedule the fight as soon as possible, once the severity of Fundora’s injury and recovery time are known. The co-main event, which was to be headlined by WBC super lightweight champion O’Shaquie Foster and featherweight champion Stephen Fulton, will also be rescheduled. This is the second time the Foster-Fulton fight has been rescheduled, after it was initially planned for August, on a card that was to include the fight between Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach, which ultimately did not materialize. Fundora (23-1-1, 15 KOs) was hoping to fight for the third time in 2025. This year, he achieved knockouts over Tim Tszyu and Chordale Booker, and the fight with Thurman represented a high-profile title defense for “The Towering Inferno”. Thurman (36-1, 23 KOs) was seeking super welterweight gold for the second time. In March, Thurman had to withdraw from a WBC title fight against Tszyu due to an injury, being replaced by Fundora, who achieved the victory for the title. Thurman, 36 years old, has only fought once since 2022, achieving a TKO victory over Brock Jarvis in March 2025.
