Fundora vs. Thurman: Postponed Clash Due to Injury
The WBC super welterweight title defense of Sebastian Fundora against Keith Thurman, scheduled for October 25, has been postponed due to a hand injury suffered by Fundora during training. Sampson Lewkowicz, Fundora’s manager, and representatives from Premier Boxing Champions confirmed the news and the postponement of the event. The entire event is expected to be rescheduled. The Fundora vs. Thurman fight was set to be the main event of the “PBC on Prime” card at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. PBC representatives hope to reschedule the fight as soon as possible once Fundora’s injury is diagnosed and the recovery time is determined. The co-main event, between WBC super lightweight champion O’Shaquie Foster and featherweight titleholder Stephen Fulton, will also be rescheduled. This is the second time Foster-Fulton has been rescheduled, as they were initially slated to fight in August on a proposed Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach undercard, which ultimately did not materialize. Fundora (23-1-1, 15 KOs) was hoping to fight for the third time in 2025. This year he achieved knockouts over Tim Tszyu and Chordale Booker, and the fight with Thurman would have been a high-profile title defense for “The Towering Inferno”. Thurman (36-1, 23 KOs) was looking for gold in the super welterweight for the second time. In March, Thurman was forced to withdraw from a WBC title fight against Tszyu due to an injury and was replaced by Fundora, who achieved the surprise and won the title. Thurman, 36 years old, has only fought once since 2022, with a technical knockout victory over Brock Jarvis in March 2025.Fundora will return in January 2026.
