Fundora vs. Thurman Headlines Boxing Card in Las Vegas
WBC super welterweight world champion Sebastian Fundora will put his title on the line against Keith Thurman on October 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. This main event will be the main event of “PBC on Prime”.
In the co-main event, O’Shaquie Foster will defend his WBC super lightweight title against former super bantamweight champion and current WBC featherweight champion, Stephen Fulton.
The confirmed fight between Fundora and Thurman promises to be a high-caliber match. Las Vegas will be the stage where Thurman will seek to become a world champion in two different divisions. For Fundora, this city evokes special memories, as he conquered the super welterweight title there by defeating Tim Tszyu in a last-minute fight.
Fundora, with a record of 23-1-1 and 15 knockouts, has successfully defended his title, including a technical knockout victory in the seventh round against Tim Tszyu in July. This will be his third title defense.
Thurman, with a record of 31-1 and 23 knockouts, has had difficulties staying active due to health problems. He has fought only twice since losing by decision to Pacquiao in 2019. In his only fight at 154 pounds this year, Thurman knocked out Brock Jarvis.
Foster, with a record of 23-3 and 13 knockouts, was going to defend his title against Fulton in August, but the event was canceled. Foster, 31 years old, will have the opportunity to defend his title on a different card against an opponent seeking his third world championship in different weight classes.
Fulton (23-1, 8 KOs) will move up another weight class after defeating Brandon Figueroa by unanimous decision to win the WBC featherweight title in February. Fulton, from Philadelphia, was unified champion at super bantamweight until he suffered his only loss to Naoya Inoue in July 2023. The WBC will allow Fulton to keep his featherweight title while challenging Foster for the WBC championship.
In addition, the fight card will include a match between Jesus Ramos (22-1, 18 KOs) and Shane Mosley Jr. (22-4, 12 KOs) for the WBC interim middleweight title, and former super welterweight champion Tony Harrison (30-4-1, 21 KOs) will face the undefeated Isaac Lucero (17-0, 13 KOs) at 160 pounds.
