Fundora vs. Thurman: Clash Postponed Due to Injury

The expected WBC super welterweight title defense of Sebastian Fundora against Keith Thurman, scheduled for October 25, has been postponed. The reason is a hand injury suffered by Fundora during training. The news was confirmed by Sampson Lewkowicz, Fundora’s manager, along with representatives from Premier Boxing Champions.

Fundora will return in January 2026.

The entire event, which was to take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, is postponed. The promoter hopes to reschedule the fight as soon as possible, once the extent of Fundora’s injury and recovery time are known. The co-main event, which was to pit O’Shaquie Foster and Stephen Fulton against each other, will also be rescheduled. This is the second time this fight has been postponed, after their participation in a proposed event between Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach in August was canceled. Fundora, with a record of 23-1-1 and 15 KOs, was looking for his third fight in 2025. This year he achieved knockouts over Tim Tszyu and Chordale Booker. The fight against Thurman represented an important title defense for “The Towering Inferno”. Thurman, with a record of 36-1 and 23 KOs, aspired to regain the super welterweight title. In March, an injury forced him to withdraw from a WBC title fight against Tszyu, being replaced by Fundora. Thurman, 36 years old, has only fought once since 2022, obtaining a TKO victory over Brock Jarvis in March 2025.
