Fabio Wardley once again demonstrated his power in boxing by knocking out Justis Huni in the tenth round, in a fight held in Ipswich, England. Despite being behind on the scorecards, Wardley connected a powerful right hand that sent the Australian to the canvas, to the euphoria of the nearly 20,000 fans present at the Portman Road football stadium. The fight seemed to be heading towards a points victory for Huni, who was dominating with his technique and precision. However, a single punch changed the course of the fight at 1 minute and 42 seconds of the tenth round. With this victory, Wardley positions himself as the mandatory challenger for the World Boxing Association (WBA) title, which could lead him to compete for a world championship in 2026. Before reaching that stage, he could face the winner of the fight between the Bulgarian veteran Kubrat Pulev and the American Michael Hunter.

I don’t claim to be an Usyk or a Huni with all the skills, but I do know how to give it my all, hold onto my mouthguard, and get the result.

Wardley, excited by his triumph, expressed his determination and his ability to overcome adversity. Huni, for his part, acknowledged that a moment of lack of concentration cost him the fight.

The English boxer hopes to follow in the footsteps of figures like musician Ed Sheeran and the Ipswich Town football team, and become an icon in his hometown.

Wardley’s rise in the boxing world has been meteoric. After only four amateur fights, he quit his job to dedicate himself entirely to his professional career in 2017. Despite his short experience, he is on the verge of a world title opportunity.

Fabio Wardley demonstrating his power with a devastating knockout over Justis Huni. Wardley, who had a brief stint in the youth categories of Ipswich Town, began the fight as the WBA’s number one contender, following his two bouts with his English rival Frazer Clarke, which elevated his career to a new level last year. Their first encounter ended in a points draw, but in the rematch, Wardley defeated Clarke in one round, with a fractured jaw and cheekbone. Wardley, 30, once again demonstrated his ability to knock out his rivals. His promoter, Frank Warren, compared him to former WBC champion Deontay Wilder. Huni, for his part, had a distinguished amateur career, winning a bronze medal at the 2019 World Championship. However, his professional career was slower until it gained momentum last year. The Australian showed his skill in the first round, but Wardley improved in the second with his jab. Huni connected some combinations in the third round, but Wardley started the fourth aggressively. Huni’s experience, forged in his amateur stage, became evident in the first half of the fight, surpassing the local idol. In the fifth round, Huni connected quality punches, including a left hook. Wardley, who is under the management of Dillian Whyte and has been a sparring partner for Usyk, was behind in the middle of the fight, as Huni’s punches were too precise for the Ipswich fighter.

Huni connected a big right hand in the sixth round, increasing his dominance. In the seventh, Wardley was in trouble from a jab, while Huni continued to increase his lead.

Wardley backed off in the eighth round, as Huni connected with a big left hand that forced Wardley to seek the knockout. And he did it, with a right hand in the tenth round that sent Huni to the canvas. Wardley, despite not having the same amateur experience as others, once again demonstrated the power that brings him closer to a world title opportunity.
