Epic Rematch! Eubank Jr. and Benn Ready for a Rematch in November
The highly anticipated rematch between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn has a date and location. The fight will take place on November 15th at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, located in the United Kingdom. The announcement was made by Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority and the Saudi Boxing Federation.
The first clash between Eubank Jr. and Benn, which took place on April 26, drew a crowd of 67,484 spectators. Eubank Jr. took the victory by unanimous decision, with scores of 116-111 from all three judges. Benn, who gained weight for this fight, suffered the first defeat of his career despite his efforts.
A highlight before the fight was Eubank Jr.’s entrance into the stadium with his father, with whom he has maintained a relationship full of ups and downs. During the fight, Eubank Jr. was put in a difficult position by Benn in the eighth round, but managed to recover and take control to keep the family legacy intact against the Benns.
The family rivalry dates back more than 35 years, when their fathers, Chris Eubank Sr. and Nigel Benn, faced each other in a middleweight battle on November 18, 1990. Eubank Sr. won the WBO middleweight title with a technical knockout in the ninth round. The intense rivalry between the fathers continued in their rematch in 1993, which ended in a split draw.
The children have continued the dispute with the same intensity. The Benn family will seek their first victory in this rivalry at the end of this year.
The fight, promoted by Sela, is expected to be contested at 160 pounds.
