Chris Eubank Jr. has revealed details about the worrying health problems he had previously hinted at. Through his social media, the boxer shared a video from the hospital surrounded by doctors, accompanied by the message: “I have been dealing with many health problems during the last year.”

Referring to his defeat to Conor Benn, Eubank Jr. added: “Everything finally caught up with me last month.” Furthermore, he declared: “I will not box again until I am 100% and I don’t know when that will be. But one thing is for sure… for the fans who have supported me through thick and thin, I will do everything in my power to make sure that, someday, the old me returns with force.” Eubank Jr. did not specify the medical condition that afflicts him nor did he provide details about his health problems. The boxer had alluded to these problems cryptically during the preparation for his rematch with Benn. After winning the first fight at the beginning of the year, and meeting with his father, Eubank Jr. was surpassed by Benn at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in their rematch last month.

Eubank Jr. and Benn faced each other at the 160-pound middleweight limit, but there was a 10-pound rehydration clause, which meant that neither boxer could weigh more than 170 pounds on Saturday morning before the fight. According to promoter Ben Shalom, Eubank Jr., who is now 36 years old, “was half the man he could have been”.

He probably threw 30% of the punches. Everyone can speculate what the reason is. Chris knows what it is, we know what it is. He will have to deal with that in due time.

After losing against Benn, Eubank Jr. commented: “I’ve been through hell to get here today. I really thought that, regardless of the problems I’ve been facing, I could come in and win.” Eubank Jr. did not consider a return to boxing immediately after losing against Benn. He insisted on his health problems: “At the moment, I’m really not in a position to think about the next fights. I need to heal. I need to deal with what I’m dealing with and then, after that, I can start thinking about my path in the sport.”
