Jaron “Boots” Ennis demonstrated his power in his debut at 154 pounds, knocking out Uisma Lima in the first round at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia. Ennis, with an undefeated record of 35-0 and 31 KOs, quickly took control of the fight against an outmatched opponent. “Boots”, now interim WBA super welterweight champion, made his dominance clear from the start.

I did what I had to do. I’m here at 154 pounds and I made a statement, so bring me those names.

In the early stages, Ennis and Lima exchanged blows, but “Boots” connected with a left hook that sent his opponent to the canvas for the first time. Although Lima got up, Ennis gave him no respite, delivering a series of blows that knocked him down again. Despite Lima recovering again, he couldn’t respond and the referee stopped the fight at 1:58 of the first round.

I sent a big message. They know what’s up and they know who I want.

This victory paves the way for an anticipated showdown between Ennis and WBC interim champion Vergil Ortiz, who will fight Erickson Lubin on November 8. Although a fight between Ennis and Ortiz did not materialize this year, Ennis hopes it will come to fruition in 2026.

It’s going to happen later. I know Ortiz is focused on his fight. I want Vergil Ortiz, but if he doesn’t want it, I’d fight Charlo, Fundora, or Zayas. Anyone can face me. This division is mine.
