The boxing weekend was full of action, with significant movements in the division rankings. One of the most outstanding events was Terence Crawford’s impressive performance against Canelo Álvarez.

Crawford Climbs in the Rankings

Terence “Bud” Crawford, after a masterful demonstration, left his position at 154 pounds to become the new super middleweight king. His unanimous decision victory over Canelo Álvarez in Las Vegas catapulted him to the top of the 168-pound division, relegating Canelo to second place.

On the same billboard, Lester Martínez secured a place in the super middleweight ranking after a disputed technical draw against WBC interim champion Christian Mbilli. Although Martínez showed great resistance and good performance, the fight ended in a draw, which allowed him to rise to sixth place, while Mbilli dropped to fifth, despite retaining his belt.

Inoue Dominates in Japan

In Nagoya, Japan, Naoya Inoue, another prominent pound-for-pound boxer, demonstrated his intelligence and technique by dominating Murodjon Akhmadliev and retaining his undisputed super bantamweight title by unanimous decision. Inoue solidifies his position at the top of the division, while Akhmadliev remains in third place. In the co-stellar Inoue-Akhmadliev event, Christian Medina shone by defeating Yoshiki Takei by technical knockout in the fourth round, winning the WBO world title. Medina, with an impressive performance, debuted in the rankings in third place, while Takei suffered his first professional defeat and fell to fourth place.
