Terence Crawford Tops Pound-for-Pound Boxing Rankings

After 16 months, Terence Crawford returns to the top spot in the pound-for-pound ranking. This achievement comes after his impressive victory over Canelo Álvarez. Crawford, with an undefeated record of 42-0 and 31 knockouts, defeated Canelo Álvarez by unanimous decision in Las Vegas. This victory not only grants him first place, but also makes him the only male boxer in the four-belt era (since 2007) to be undisputed champion in three divisions: super lightweight, welterweight, and super middleweight. Crawford proved to be the embodiment of a pound-for-pound boxer, overcoming a renowned rival and moving up two weight classes to achieve it. Canelo Álvarez, a four-division champion, suffered his first defeat since losing to Dmitry Bivol in May 2022. After the defeat, Álvarez drops two places, ranking number 10. Naoya Inoue also had an outstanding performance, defending his undisputed super bantamweight championship with a unanimous decision victory over Murodjon Akhmadaliev in Japan. Despite this victory, Inoue drops to number 3, reflecting the impact of Crawford’s victory.
