Jack Catterall Defeats Harlem Eubank by Technical Decision in a Bout Marked by Cuts
In a boxing evening charged with emotion and controversy, Jack Catterall won against Harlem Eubank last Saturday. The fight, stopped after the sixth round due to cuts suffered by both fighters, culminated in a unanimous technical decision in favor of Catterall. The judges’ scorecards reflected Catterall’s superiority, with scores of 69-65, 69-66, and 69-66. The match, which took place in Manchester, saw an abrupt end after an accidental clash of heads caused cuts above both boxers’ eyes. After a cautious start, the fight began to intensify. Catterall took the initiative in the early exchanges, before Eubank responded with solid punches.
Catterall also expressed his comfort in his first fight at welterweight, feeling superior to his less experienced opponent. For his part, Eubank requested an immediate rematch, considering the circumstances of the fight.“I’m not saying it was intentional, but as soon as Harlem was cut, I thought he ran straight with his head,” Catterall stated in the ring after the fight.

“There has to be a rematch. Fair play to Jack, he didn’t cancel the fight, but you saw what he was doing in there,” Eubank said. “I was coming into the fight wonderfully. We need to run it back right now. The decision went against me because they cut the fight short.”
