Terence Crawford seeks the feat against Canelo Álvarez

Terence “Bud” Crawford moves up in weight to face Canelo Álvarez for the undisputed super middleweight title this Saturday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The fight promises to be a major event for boxing fans.

Crawford, with an impressive record of 41-0 and 31 knockouts, is a four-division world champion. Throughout his career, he has primarily competed in the 135 and 147-pound categories. Recently, in August 2024, he moved up to the 154-pound division, where he managed to defeat Israil Madrimov, obtaining the WBA super welterweight title.

Crawford has already managed to be undisputed champion in two divisions, a feat shared by only two other boxers in the four-belt era: Oleksandr Usyk and Naoya Inoue. If he achieves victory against Canelo, Crawford would become the only boxer in history to be undisputed champion in three weight categories (Claressa Shields has achieved this in women’s boxing).

Canelo, for his part, holds a record of 63-2-2, with 39 knockouts, and is also a champion in four divisions. His only losses were against Floyd Mayweather in 2013 and Dmitry Bivol in 2022, when Canelo moved up to light heavyweight to compete for a world title.

The fight between Canelo and Crawford is one of the most anticipated in recent years, and the winner could be considered the best boxer in the world today.
