British boxer Georgia O’Connor has died at the age of 25.
O’Connor, originally from Durham, United Kingdom, revealed last year that she suffered from ulcerative colitis, sharing her story in the hope of helping others.
As an amateur, O’Connor had a distinguished career, winning the gold medal at the 2017 Youth Commonwealth Games. In the professional field, her record was 3-0 after debuting in 2021.
Ben Shalom, O’Connor’s promoter, expressed his sorrow at the news.
It’s hard to understand this. Much happens in life, but nothing matters more than your family and your health.

The promoter added: “My heart goes out to Georgia’s parents and partner, who I know tried tirelessly and are going through so much at this time. Georgia was an inspiring person and one I will never forget. I am so sorry for her family and all her friends. Truly heartbreaking.”
