In Chicago, Oscar Duarte defeated Kenneth Sims Jr. by majority decision in an eliminator fight for the WBA super lightweight title. Duarte demonstrated his strength and constant pressure, overcoming Sims’ technique in a very close match. Duarte could have the opportunity to challenge champion Gary Antuanne Russell. The co-main event between Regis Prograis and Joseph “Jojo” Diaz was one of the most exciting fights of the weekend. Prograis won by unanimous decision in a super lightweight bout. Despite Diaz’s attempts, Prograis managed to impose his strategy, using his jab and straight punches to keep his opponent at bay.

“I felt like I won the fight. My jab worked all night. I was connecting. I think he connected with some hard shots, but at the same time I was never [hurt]. I was probably stunned the first time he connected, but after that, I wasn’t stunned anymore.”
