Conor Benn Defeats Chris Eubank Jr. in an Epic Night
London – Even if Conor Benn manages to win a world title, it might not be as satisfying as his points victory over Chris Eubank Jr. in a dominant and unanimous fight on Saturday. The rematch was sweet for Benn (24-1, 14 KOs), who sent Eubank (35-4, 25 KOs) to the canvas twice in the final round, securing the victory with unanimous scores of 119-107, 116-110 and 118-108 in the non-title middleweight bout. Benn, 29, capitalized on a slow and lackluster performance by Eubank to avenge the points defeat suffered seven months ago. The fathers of both boxers faced each other in two epic world title fights in the 1990s. Eubank, 36, did not show the energy, variety of punches, and explosiveness of his first fight. The fight lacked the drama of the previous encounter, until a brilliant ending. Benn sent Eubank to the canvas first with a jab, then with a series of punches before a right hand knocked him down again. Eubank got up, but knew the fight was lost.
“People said I don’t know how to box, they can shove it in their mouths.”“It’s been a journey, I feel like it’s the end of the Benn-Eubank saga, it’s over, it’s finished,” said Benn.

A fourth defeat in Eubank’s career, who won the first fight with scores of 116-112 on all three scorecards, is a harsh blow to his hopes of a lucrative fight against, for example, Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez, but based on this performance, facing the Mexican would be a bad move for Eubank.Benn added: “I like Barrios for the WBC world title, Ryan Garcia, Roland Romero, Devin Haney, all those Yankees can come. Any day of the week, and twice on Sundays”.

“It’s 1-1, I have to go and deal with some of the things I’ve been dealing with in recent months. Who knows, maybe we’ll see something new with him and me, or maybe not. Right now, it’s his night.” After being escorted to the ring by star rapper 50 Cent, Eubank kept a low profile during the fight. Both were positive early on and Eubank perhaps connected the better punch, a right hand, in the first round. Benn landed a couple of good hooks early in the second before both were cautioned for grappling. Benn did a cleaner job in the second round and continued to outperform Eubank in the third. With Benn as the aggressor, Eubank sought to catch him on the counterattack, but after four rounds he seemed to be at a disadvantage.“I’ve been through hell to get to this night, it is what it is”, said Eubank. “I did my best, the kid fought hard, he has power. We put on a show, Benn was the better man tonight.
