“Bam” Rodriguez Seeks to Dominate the Super Flyweight Division Before Ascending
Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez has set an ambitious plan: to conquer the super flyweight division before moving up to a higher weight class. The boxer from San Antonio, Texas, is at the peak of his career, seeking to solidify his legacy in boxing. The next challenge for Rodriguez is to face Fernando Daniel Martinez for three world belts at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This fight is part of a stellar card that includes high-caliber matchups such as David Benavidez vs. Anthony Yarde (light heavyweight) and Brian Norman vs. Devin Haney (welterweight). Rodriguez, WBC and WBO champion, with an impressive record of 22-0 and 15 knockouts, will seek to add more titles to his collection. Recently, in July, he unified titles by defeating Phumelela Cafu in the tenth round. His next rival, Martinez, from Buenos Aires, Argentina, boasts an undefeated record of 18-0, with 9 knockouts and has defended his WBA title four times. If Rodriguez manages to defeat Martinez, he will only need one belt to achieve his goal of being the undisputed champion at 115 pounds. IBF champion Willibaldo García, from Mexico, will defend his title against Kenshiro Teraji in Saudi Arabia on December 25th.Rodriguez plans to have a maximum of two more fights in the super flyweight category before moving up. His team is working to secure a fight against the IBF champion. The boxer considers Martínez a formidable rival, but feels prepared for the challenge. Furthermore, he highlighted the excitement of being part of a card with so many renowned fighters. This will be the third super flyweight title defense for Bam, who also unified the world titles at flyweight. Rodriguez has also considered the possibility of competing at featherweight (126 pounds), and mentions Naoya Inoue and Junto Nakatani as possible rivals in the future.“The goal is to be undisputed, if I surpass Martinez there’s only one belt left, so I’m very close to achieving it,” Bam stated.

Rodriguez also expressed his desire to fight in Japan in the future, a place he enjoys and has fans.“We’ve talked about 126 pounds, that would be the maximum, I’m not sure I can go any further, only time will tell, but I think I’ll end my career at 126,” said Bam.
