Amir Khan Promotes Boxing in Nigeria: Glanton vs Fielding in Lagos
Amir Khan, former super-lightweight world champion, embarks on a new adventure in the boxing world. On this occasion, Khan is promoting a boxing card that will be held in Nigeria in October. The main event of the night will pit cruiserweights Brandon Glanton and Rocky Fielding against each other in Lagos. Khan, who retired from professional boxing in 2022 after his defeat to Kell Brook, has ventured into fight promotion. I am excited to bring world-class boxing and the world’s attention to Nigeria for the first time. The event, which goes beyond the fights, seeks to inspire a new generation and showcase the talent of Nigerian boxers alongside international stars. Khan, after promoting a fight card in Ghana in June, expects the event in Lagos to be even bigger and more successful.

It’s going to be a great weekend for everyone. It’s going to be a great show. Brandon Glanton against Rocky Fielding… obviously we know that Brandon lost against Chris Billam-Smith and Rocky has been out of the ring [since 2022]. I think it’s a great fight.

The Glanton vs. Fielding fight, scheduled for Nigeria’s Independence Day, October 1st, headlines the first major boxing card to be held in the country. Khan sees great potential in Africa as a market for boxing.

We are putting Africa on the map. In Ghana, we had a fantastic, fantastic show there.

British light heavyweight Dan Azeez (21-2-1, 13 KOs), with Nigerian roots, will seek to return to the path of victory on the card.

Fighting in Nigeria on Independence Day is a dream come true. This is for my heritage, my people, and my pride. I am ready to put on a show and honor Nigeria with every punch I throw.
