Adam Azim is preparing to return to the ring on January 31st in London. The fight could be against a top 15 opponent in the super-lightweight category, as confirmed by promoter Ben Shalom. Although the agreement has not yet been finalized, Boxxer is close to defining the opponent for what will be Azim’s first fight on the BBC. Azim (14-0, 11 KOs) defeated American Kurt Scoby on the undercard of Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn II earlier this month, with a dominant performance in which he won every round before achieving a technical knockout in the twelfth round.

We want someone who truly believes they can win. But there aren’t many people willing to take a risk.

Shane McGuiganAfter the fight, coach Shane McGuigan expressed that getting opponents for Azim would be difficult, as few would be willing to face the 23-year-old young star. Shalom, for his part, affirmed that they are on their way to fighting again in the new year. He will headline the bill on BBC Two at the end of January, which is huge for him. Shalom also added that Azim’s performance against Kurt Scoby was excellent and that he believes it captured the attention of the American audience. Azim is currently ranked number 9 in the WBC super lightweight rankings. In the IBF and WBO, he is ranked number 10.
