Roman Anthony Shines in His Red Sox Debut

Young prospect Roman Anthony had a memorable debut in the Major Leagues, hitting his first hit and with his family witnessing the moment from very close. Anthony, considered one of the top baseball prospects, was called up from Triple-A on Monday. The excitement was such that his loved ones couldn’t get to Boston from Florida in time for his first game. However, Anthony’s family was seated in the front row next to the team’s dugout at Fenway Park on Tuesday night. In the first inning, Anthony hit a double that drove in two runs to left field, contributing to the Red Sox’s victory over the Tampa Bay Rays with a score of 3-1.

“I didn’t even realize they were there until my first at-bat,” Anthony told the media.

The Red Sox manager, Alex Cora, watched from the dugout the emotion of Anthony’s mother, Lori, who could not hold back the tears.

“Being close and seeing the smiles, and also some tears. It’s great. I know it was a special day for the kid yesterday, but they weren’t here. So, having his family now and getting his first hit, that means a lot,” Cora expressed.

After the match, Anthony had time to take photos on the field with his family, consisting of parents, sister, brother, grandparents, agents, and friends. The young player took time to celebrate with them, highlighting the constant support they have given him. After a debut without hits, Anthony stood out in the first inning of the second game, driving in two runs. In addition, he made a spectacular catch in the outfield, protecting his team’s lead and receiving praise from pitcher Lucas Giolito.
