SNS Joins the Organizing Committee of the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games
Santo Domingo – The National Health Service (SNS) has formalized its integration into the Organizing Committee of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026. This collaboration focuses on guaranteeing medical attention to the more than five thousand athletes who will participate in the sporting event. During a key meeting, led by the director of the SNS, doctor Mario Lama, and the president of the Organizing Committee of the Games, journalist José P. Monegro, the strategies were defined to ensure the provision of health services to the athletes of the 37 participating nations, as well as to their delegations and attendees.This agreement will be formalized through the signing of an agreement between both parties, which will take place soon. Dr. Mario Lama, who will be an honorary medical advisor to the Organizing Committee, highlighted the SNS’s commitment to the country, ensuring the availability of equipment, personnel, medications, and supplies to provide the best care from the designated health centers. José P. Monegro praised the willingness and receptiveness of the SNS to offer assistance to athletes in the hospitals of the Public Network. He highlighted the opportunity to show the region and the country the quality of the Dominican health system.The National Health Service is committed to deploying a network of hospitals and emergency services to assist athletes. Mobile units equipped with imaging technology, medical care, dentistry, specialized personnel, medications, and necessary supplies will also be available.

Among the hospital centers identified to be part of the games’ hospital network, which will be held from July 24 to August 8, 2026, are the Ciudad Sanitaria Luis Eduardo Aybar, as well as the Darío Contreras and Ney Arias Lora trauma hospitals. This was the second working meeting between the SNS and the Organizing Committee of the Games, prior to the signing of the agreement. The meeting was attended by doctors Edisson Félix, regional director Ozama; José Luis López, director of Primary Care; Wilsy López, director of Dispatch; José Joaquín Puello, president of the Luis Eduardo Aybar Health City; and Dr. Milton Pinedo, expert in sports medicine and anti-doping of the Organizing Committee of the Games.We will have here 37 countries that have no idea how advanced our public health system is.
