Santiago, DR. The experienced infielder, Cristhian Adames, is optimistic and prepared to debut with the Águilas Cibaeñas from the first day of the Round Robin of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). Adames was selected as a reinforcement in the recent Re-entry Draft.

Adames emphasized his commitment and willingness to take on any role the team requires at this crucial stage of the tournament. The infielder indicated that his main objective is to strengthen the defense and contribute consistent offense. “It’s a great opportunity and a challenge that I take on with great responsibility. Experience and focus will be key in this semifinal,” he added. The Águilas Cibaeñas, who led the regular season, seek to maintain their competitive level in the temporary absence of Gerardo Perdomo. The incorporation of Adames seeks to maintain the defensive balance and competitiveness of the team. The veteran infielder indicated that he was not surprised to be chosen by the Eagles. “I know what I can give on the field and what I can contribute to any team,” he affirmed, highlighting his ability to perform in all infield positions. “I have played in all four positions of the infield throughout my career and I feel comfortable in all of them; wherever they need me, I will be there.” At 34 years old, Adames will play his seventh Round Robin, accumulating experience in 83 games, with a .268 average (254-68), in addition to 38 runs scored, 21 RBIs and three home runs, participating with Toros del Este, Águilas Cibaeñas and Tigres del Licey. The Eagles’ Baseball Operations Manager, Gian Guzmán, highlighted that the selection of Adames brings greater depth and versatility to the infield. “We understand that Cristhian is going to give us much more depth in the infield,” Guzmán pointed out, who emphasized his switch-hitting ability, plate discipline, and offensive consistency. The Eagles opened the Re-Entry Draft with the selection of Adames, a player belonging to the Tigres del Licey, and made a total of six selections, including five pitchers, with the aim of especially strengthening their pitching staff for the semifinal phase. The Round Robin starts this Saturday with four teams competing for a spot in the Final Series of the tournament dedicated to Juan Marichal.
