Gigantes del Cibao Crush Toros: 8-Run Explosion and Victory in LIDOM

San Francisco de Macorís – Los Gigantes del Cibao achieved a resounding 8-1 victory over the Toros del Este this Tuesday, in the first game of the doubleheader. This match is part of the Dominican Baseball League (LIDOM) tournament, dedicated to Juan Marichal and in search of the Banreservas Cup. The Giants’ offensive exploded in the eighth inning, scoring eight runs that sealed the victory. Doubles by Gary Sánchez, Nomar Mazara, and Marco Hernández were key to breaking the tie and defining the course of the game. With this victory, the Giants improve their record to 18-25 and strengthen their home performance with a 12-10 record. In addition, they snapped a five-game winning streak by the Bulls and secured the head-to-head series against the Romanenses, with a 6-2 lead. Justin Courtney (2-2) earned the victory, throwing 7.1 solid innings. He allowed only two hits and one earned run, with one walk and five strikeouts, facing 24 batters. Steven Moyer (2-3) took the loss, after working five innings. He allowed two hits and one earned run, with four strikeouts and a home run.

Outstanding Offensive Performance

For the Toros del Este, Eloy Jiménez went 2-for-3, and Yairo Muñoz hit a home run, scoring a run and driving in another, going 1-for-3. Regarding the Gigantes del Cibao, Gary Sánchez stood out with a double and two RBIs, going 1-1. Pablo Reyes hit 1-4, and Luis García Jr. went 1-4, with a run scored and two RBIs. Also stood out Nomar Mazara, with a double and a run scored (4-1); Samad Taylor, with two runs scored and one RBI (1-1); and Marco Hernández, with a double, one RBI and a walk (3-1). Deyvison De los Santos went 1-for-3, Julio Carreras scored a run, and Kelvin Gutiérrez had a run scored and a walk.
