Machado Shines in Padres’ Victory Over Giants

SAN FRANCISCO – Manny Machado emerged as the central figure in the San Diego Padres’ victory over the San Francisco Giants, with a final score of 3-2 in 10 innings. The match, which extended to extra innings for the second consecutive night, saw Machado hit four hits, including a crucial two-run single in the ninth inning that tied the score.

Following a previous 1-0 victory in extra innings, San Diego once again demonstrated their ability to react in critical moments. With two outs and the bases loaded in the ninth inning, Machado responded with a timely hit against closer Camilo Doval, driving in Fernando Tatis Jr. and Luis Arráez to tie the game. The third baseman capped off the night with an outstanding 4-4 performance, solidifying one of his best showings of the season.

In the tenth inning, and with two outs, Jake Cronenworth hit a ground ball that, after a defensive error by Casey Schmitt, allowed Jackson Merrill, the automatic runner, to score the go-ahead run.

The Padres’ bullpen maintained its solidity in decisive moments. Yuki Matsui (1-1) pitched an impeccable ninth inning, while Jeremiah Estrada took care of the closing in the tenth, achieving his second save of the season. Estrada remained calm with a runner on third and dominated Heliot Ramos and Jung Hoo Lee with ground balls to the shortstop, securing the victory.

Heliot Ramos was the highlight of San Francisco’s offense, connecting his eleventh home run of the year. However, his effort was not enough to break the Giants’ losing streak, who have scored four runs or less in 16 consecutive games.

San Francisco’s opener, Landen Roupp, delivered a solid performance, pitching 6.1 scoreless innings and allowing only four hits.

By the Fathers:

  • Fernando Tatis Jr.: 3-1 with a run scored.

For the Giants:

With this victory, the Padres continue to add key wins in their effort to move up in the West Division. Machado seems to be in exceptional form, just in time for the crucial phase of the season.
