Lethbridge, Alberta – The U.S. National Team Development Program (USNTDP) took the win at the CHL-USA Prospects Challenge over the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) this Wednesday night, thanks to a goal by Victor Plante in overtime.

Plante scored at 5:53 of the tiebreaker, sealing the victory for the American team.

The USNTDP had won the first game of the series, played on Tuesday in Calgary, with a score of 4-2. In the second game, the CHL prospects came back from a two-goal deficit to win 4-3, which led to a 20-minute sudden-death period with three players per team.

Victor Plante, 17 years old and originally from Hermantown, Minnesota, is scheduled to play in college for Minnesota-Duluth. He is the son of former NHL player Derek Plante.

Xavier Villeneuve, Alessandro Di Iorio, Caleb Malhotra, and JP Hurlbert scored for the CHL in the second game, and Zachary Jonvanovski made 24 saves.

For the USNTDP, Plante, Jamie Glance, and AJ Garcia scored. Luke Carrithers stopped 33 shots.
