R360 Postpones Launch Until 2028
The expected R360 rugby league, which promised a revolution in the sport, has postponed its launch until the year 2028. Initially scheduled to begin next year, the emerging league has justified this postponement for various reasons, including “greater commercial certainty and a significantly more favorable environment for players and fans”. However, the league has also confirmed the signing of players from each top-tier rugby nation.Tindall stated, in a statement, that “launching under compressed timelines would not meet the standards we set for R360, nor would it generate the long-term commercial impact that the sport deserves.” “From day one, our commitment to the players has been unwavering. Many of the world’s best female and male players continue to express great interest in joining R360. We want them to thrive, not be subjected to unnecessary pressure,” he added. The league has added that its ambition is to “complement” the international rugby calendar, following the inaugural tour of the Women’s Lions and the 2027 Rugby World Cup. Finally, Martin Gilbert, a Scottish financier, has been confirmed as chairman of the R360 project.The decision to move our launch to 2028 is strategic and time-based.
