David Ortiz Immortalized on the Walk of Stars
The Boulevard of the Stars Foundation honored David Ortiz by placing his star on the emblematic Winston Churchill avenue, in the National District. This recognition makes him the seventh Dominican baseball player to receive such distinction. The event, hosted by Brenda Sánchez, celebrated the successful career of Ortiz, who shone for 20 seasons in the Major Leagues and was inducted into the Cooperstown Hall of Fame in 2022.Visibly moved, Ortiz thanked God and the Foundation for the recognition. In addition, he motivated the young baseball players present to study, prepare, and fight for their dreams. Carlos Batista Matos, president of the Foundation, and Héctor Gómez, sports chronicler, also participated in the ceremony. Roberto Ángel Salcedo, Minister of Culture, and Kelvin Cruz, Minister of Sports, highlighted the importance of the figure of David Ortiz. Personalities such as William Swaney, U.S. Consul General, Senator Carlos Gómez, former pitcher Fernando Rodney, among others, attended the event.I am very impressed and honored by this beautiful recognition.
