Lawrence Okolie Offers to Help Jake Paul for His Fight Against Anthony Joshua
The British heavyweight boxer, Lawrence Okolie, has expressed his interest in collaborating with Jake Paul to prepare for his fight against Anthony Joshua, offering to be his sparring partner. The fight between Paul and Joshua, scheduled as an eight-round professional event with 10-ounce gloves in Miami, was announced on Monday. This fight will mark Joshua’s return to the ring since September 2024, following his knockout loss in the fifth round to Daniel Dubois. Okolie, former cruiserweight champion (22-1, 16 KOs), is in preparation for his own fight, which will be held on December 19 in Nigeria, coinciding with the Paul-Joshua fight. This will be his first fight since July, when he suffered a biceps injury in the first round.
Okolie wants Paul to get an idea of what it’s like to face a world-class heavyweight. In addition, he wonders what drives Paul to want to face Joshua.“I want to go help Jake Paul, give him a chance. I want to go to Puerto Rico. What I don’t want to happen to him is for him to be completely destroyed in a round or something like that if AJ sets his mind to it,” Okolie declared.

Okolie, who has already been Joshua’s sparring partner, does not rule out that the fight will extend beyond the first rounds, despite general expectations. “I’m not going to pretend there isn’t a huge difference in size, ability, and other aspects. But, crazier things have happened. We’ll see,” Okolie commented. Okolie suggests that if Paul manages to land significant blows, Joshua could react forcefully. “If Jake Paul hits him and doesn’t knock him out at first, hits him hard, then I think it will be interesting,” Okolie concluded.“I need to know. Maybe he has a secret that I don’t know,” added Okolie.
