Dominicans Shine in MLB: Soriano, Castillo, Rodriguez and More Stand Out
The Dominican Republic was celebrating in the Major Leagues on Monday, with a display of talent from its most outstanding players. José Soriano, Luis Castillo, Julio Rodríguez, Rafael Devers, Jesús Sánchez, Agustín Ramírez, and Otto López led the way with memorable performances on the diamond.
José Soriano, pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels, earned his third win of the season. His solid performance of six innings, where he allowed three runs and struck out several key batters, was crucial for his team’s 4-3 victory over the Oakland Athletics. This win marked the fourth consecutive for the Angels.
In Miami, Jesús Sánchez starred in a spectacular day. The Dominican outfielder started the game with a home run and then hit a decisive triple in the ninth inning, leaving the Chicago Cubs on the field. Sánchez finished with a 5-3 performance, driving in four runs and scoring two. His compatriot, rookie catcher Agustín Ramírez, also contributed with a solo home run, while Otto López added an RBI in the Marlins’ 8-7 victory.
Luis Castillo, with a dominant performance, returned to the path of victory with the Seattle Mariners. The right-hander pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing only three hits and striking out five batters.
Julio Rodríguez, also from the Dominican Republic, sealed the victory with a grand slam in the eighth inning, driving in four runs in the 5-1 victory over the White Sox.
Rafael Devers, although he didn’t play on Monday, continues to stand out with the bat. His recent statistics position him as one of the most productive hitters in May.
Since May 9, Devers is batting .429 with three home runs and 13 RBIs, leading the American League in walks (36) and ranking second in RBIs (38).
