SAN FRANCISCO – The exciting bid for a no-hitter by Kris Bubic, pitcher for the Kansas City Royals, took an unexpected turn on Monday night.

After six flawless innings against the San Francisco Giants, where it seemed Bubic was on his way to a historic performance, a modification in the scoreboard changed the course of the game.

Initially, Bubic managed to keep the Giants’ batters at bay, not allowing them to connect any hits. However, the situation changed before the start of the seventh inning.

An error committed by the Royals’ second baseman, Michael Massey, was re-evaluated and converted into a single.

The incident occurred in the sixth inning, with two outs, when Wilmer Flores hit a ground ball towards second base. Massey moved to his left, apparently in position to make the play, but slipped on the edge of the grass, allowing the ball to pass towards the outfield.

Initially, official scorer Michael Duca ruled it an error. Bubic then struck out Jung Hoo Lee to end the inning, keeping the score scoreless.

However, shortly thereafter, Duca reversed his decision, awarding a hit to Flores.

In the seventh inning, Casey Schmitt doubled with one out, scoring the second hit for San Francisco.
