Messi Returns to the Argentina National Team to Face Chile and Colombia
The Argentine National Team, with its captain Lionel Messi at the helm, is preparing to face the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.
The team will face Chile and Colombia in a series of crucial matches.
Messi, the Inter Miami star, will be back on the field after missing the March matches due to a groin injury.
Despite their absence, Argentina managed to secure their qualification for next year’s tournament, after defeating Uruguay and Brazil.
The defending champion, Argentina, will visit Chile on June 5 and then host Colombia in Buenos Aires on June 10.
Subsequently, Messi will return to the United States to participate in the opening match of the FIFA Club World Cup, where Inter Miami will face Al Ahly of Egypt on June 14 in Miami.
In addition, Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho, who had been excluded from previous call-ups for tactical reasons, was also included in the list of 28 players called up by coach Lionel Scaloni.
For the first match, Scaloni will not be able to count on defender Nicolás Otamendi and midfielders Enzo Fernández and Leandro Paredes, who are suspended. However, the three players are part of the squad.
Notable absences include the injured Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Montiel, while defenders Marcos Acuña and Germán Pezzella were also excluded by the Argentine coach.
