Álvaro García Pascual gives Sevilla the victory and brings the team closer to salvation
Álvaro García Pascual, who last year played college soccer in the United States, scored the winning goal for Sevilla, securing a 1-0 home victory against Las Palmas. This triumph brings the traditional Spanish club closer to salvation in LaLiga.
García Pascual scored the decisive goal with a header in the 52nd minute, which allows Sevilla to move seven points away from the relegation zone, with two matchdays remaining until the end of the season. Some teams could reduce that difference in the remaining matches.
The 22-year-old forward, before his time at Sevilla, played at Marshall University and, previously, at Coastal Carolina University. He joined Sevilla’s B team in 2024 and made his first-team debut as a substitute in a match against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in December.

Álvaro García Pascual became the unexpected hero of Sevilla with his goal against Las Palmas.
Tuesday’s victory ended an eight-match winless run for Sevilla, who recently faced protests from a group of disgruntled fans who stormed the club’s facilities after another defeat.
Sevilla fired coach Francisco García Pimienta in April and former coach Joaquín Caparrós temporarily replaced him. The club has been affected by financial difficulties and poor results since winning its seventh and last Europa League title in 2023.
For Las Palmas, this was their fourth consecutive defeat, remaining in second-to-last place, three points away from safety.
