Amidst the trade rumors surrounding Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, the player remains firm in his stance. With the NFL trade deadline approaching on November 4, Meyers has reiterated his desire to be traded from the team.
“Of course,” Meyers said on Tuesday. “But at the end of the day I’m a professional. I’m just trying to play good football. If I’m here, I’ll play good football. If I’m not here, I’ll go out and play where I’m supposed to be.”
Jakobi MeyersIn August, 28-year-old Meyers requested a trade after failing to reach an agreement on a new contract. However, the Raiders denied his request. Meyers is in the final year of a three-year, $33 million contract he signed in 2023 after four seasons with the New England Patriots. Meyers commented that he hasn’t thought much about a new deal with the Raiders since the season began.Meyers added that he hasn’t spoken to the team about his trade request lately. He said he’s focused on living in the moment despite being the subject of trade rumors, as Las Vegas occupies last place in the AFC West with a 2-5 record.“That window kind of closed with the offseason in it,” Meyers said. “If it’s done, I don’t really care. I really just want to be in a good place for myself and my family.”
Jakobi Meyers“The Raiders know how I feel,” Meyers said. “There’s no reason for me to keep going back to them crying, ‘Can you get me out of here?’ If you move me, you move me. But in the meantime, I have some real people who care about me by my side, so I’m trying to make sure I’m the best version of myself for them.”
Jakobi MeyersDuring this time of year, Meyers mentioned that the team tries to take the uncertainty with humor. He referenced how players joke whenever they see their names in transfer discussions: “Like, what time is your flight? It’s all fun and games,” he said.“Everyone is a comedian with this, and I’m fine with that,” Meyers said. “I like to hear the jokes as long as the guys are willing to talk about it. If they have a problem, I’ll be open with them.”
Jakobi MeyersMeyers missed Sunday’s 31-0 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs due to a knee and foot injury he suffered against the Tennessee Titans on October 12. He was sidelined for two days of practice before returning to the field on Friday. Meyers warmed up before the kickoff, but decided it was best not to play. He practiced on Tuesday and plans to be available after the Raiders’ bye week for the November 2 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. “It wasn’t good sitting on the bench watching the guys lose like that,” Meyers said about Sunday’s game. “I definitely just want to get out there, do my part, and hopefully bring a little spark to the offense.” In 97 career games (76 starts), Meyers has recorded 422 receptions for 4,921 yards and 20 touchdowns. He added a career-high 1,027 receiving yards in 2024 and has recorded at least 800 yards in four consecutive seasons. In six games of 2025, Meyers has 29 receptions for 329 yards. Despite the Raiders’ difficulties, especially on offense (three games with less than 10 points scored), Meyers stated that the team has remained united.“Everyone still cares a lot about winning. We’re here fighting,” Meyers said. “It’s a new regime. We’re trying.”
