The last episode of “SmackDown” presented a show with ups and downs, although it left memorable moments for wrestling fans.

Ilja Dragunov Conquers the United States Championship

Ilja Dragunov’s return to WWE action marked a milestone, defeating Sami Zayn to be crowned the new United States Champion. Dragunov, who had not competed since suffering an ACL tear more than a year ago, answered Zayn’s open challenge and delivered an electrifying match.
During the match, Solo Sikoa interfered, distracting Zayn and allowing Dragunov to capitalize with a “Torpedo Moscow” followed by an “H-Bomb” to secure the victory. This encounter fulfilled multiple purposes, including the surprise return of Dragunov and his triumph, which could lead to a rivalry between Zayn and Sikoa, regardless of the championship. The MFTs also got involved, attacking Zayn and Dragunov after the match. Rey Fenix tried to help, but was stopped by Tama Tonga.
Dragunov’s victory and the subsequent intervention of the MFTs could be the prelude to a series of confrontations in the future.

Cody Rhodes: A New Dark Side?

Cody Rhodes showed a more aggressive side, especially in his rivalry with Drew McIntyre. The use of the championship as a weapon and Rhodes’ behavior suggest a potential shift towards a “heel” character, although this seems unlikely at this time.
An impromptu match for the undisputed title, following the attack on Jacob Fatu, ended with Rhodes losing by disqualification after hitting McIntyre with the belt. This could have been a strategic moment for McIntyre to win the championship, taking advantage of Rhodes’ fury.

“SmackDown” Results

Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss defeated Zaria and Sol Ruca.

Other Highlights

The rivalry between McIntyre and Rhodes remains unresolved, and a number one contender was not determined on “SmackDown.” Jacob Fatu suffered an injury that left him unable to compete, which could delay his participation in the title match. Zayn once again demonstrated his ability to deliver great matches with various opponents. In addition, Blake Monroe was present watching Sol Ruca, whom she will soon challenge for the NXT Women’s Championship.
These events could lay the groundwork for Survivor Series: WarGames on November 29, offering the MFTs a variety of opponents.
