SANTO DOMINGO – Dominican sprinter Marileidy Paulino has outlined a meticulous strategy for the 2025 season, with the goal of reaching new heights in world athletics.
Although he will not participate in the first Diamond League stop in Doha this Friday, his debut is scheduled for June 20 in Paris.
Paulino’s Goals
The 28-year-old athlete, Olympic champion in the 400-meter dash, seeks a historic milestone: to become the first athlete to win four Diamond League titles. Paulino already conquered this prestigious title in 2021, 2022, and 2023, currently sharing the record with Sanya Richards-Ross and Amantle Montsho.
Paulino’s absence in Doha is due to a selective schedule designed by his coach, Yaseen Pérez, focused on arriving in optimal condition for the World Championship in Tokyo.
While other competitors will compete in Qatar, Paulino is preparing to compete on May 30 at the Grand Slam Track in Philadelphia, where she has already demonstrated her potential by setting a new record in the 200 meters in Kingston and Miami.
This year’s Diamond League offers an attractive economic reward, with up to 50 thousand dollars per stop and 100 thousand for the final champion.
Upcoming Competitions
- Final Grand Slam Track: June 27-29 in Los Angeles (UCLA)
- Diamond League: July 11 in Monaco, August 16 in Poland and August 27 in Switzerland
Each competition is part of a strategic plan to arrive in top form at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, where Paulino will seek to defend his world title obtained in Budapest 2023.
To close out the year, her participation in ATHLOS is contemplated, an exclusive event for women that will be held on October 10 at Icahn Stadium in New York.
