Jorge Masvidal Wins Legal Victory Worth Millions Against Fanmio
UFC veteran Jorge Masvidal has secured a significant legal victory. A Florida judge awarded him a default judgment of over $5 million in his lawsuit against the online platform Fanmio.
Judge Beatrice Butchko Sanchez approved Masvidal’s request, after an arbitrator awarded the former BMF champion $5,315,268.64, plus post-judgment interest, related to his 2024 boxing match against Nate Diaz.
Masvidal sued Fanmio in January, alleging that his agreement for the fight with Diaz included a $6 million purse, plus an additional $1 million if he won. Masvidal lost the fight by decision and claimed to have received only a $150,000 advance and a $1 million payment.
The referee ruled in favor of Masvidal, and with final approval, the matter has been resolved.
However, Fanmio still faces lawsuits from other fighters.
Nate Diaz filed a lawsuit against Fanmio two weeks after Masvidal’s case, claiming that he was owed more than $9 million. An arbitrator awarded Diaz $6 million, along with attorney’s fees. That case is still awaiting final approval.
In March, Fanmio filed a lawsuit against Golden Boy Promotions and Ryan Garcia.
