Jorge Masvidal Wins Million-Dollar Legal Victory Against Fanmio

UFC veteran Jorge Masvidal has secured a significant legal victory. A Florida judge awarded Masvidal a default judgment for over $5 million in his lawsuit against the online platform Fanmio. The company Fanmio was the promoter of the Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz boxing match in 2024. Judge Beatrice Butchko Sanchez approved Masvidal’s request to grant the sentence after an arbitrator awarded the former BMF champion $5,315,268.64, plus post-judgment interest, related to the fight. Masvidal sued Fanmio in January, alleging that his agreement for the fight with Diaz included a $6 million purse, plus an additional million if he won. Masvidal lost the fight by decision and claimed to have received only a $150,000 advance and a $1 million payment. The referee ruled in favor of Masvidal, and with final approval, the matter is resolved. However, Fanmio still faces lawsuits from other fighters. Nate Diaz filed a lawsuit against Fanmio two weeks after Masvidal’s, claiming over 9 million dollars. An arbitrator awarded Diaz 6 million dollars, in addition to attorney’s fees. That case is still awaiting final approval. In March, Fanmio filed a lawsuit against Golden Boy Promotions and Ryan Garcia.
