In a vibrant playoff series encounter, the Carolina Hurricanes prevailed over the Washington Capitals with a resounding score of 4-0, thus taking a 2-1 lead in the series.
Andrei Svechnikov took advantage of a loose puck in the circle to score his sixth goal of the postseason, while Frederik Andersen shined with 21 saves, securing the victory for the Hurricanes.
Svechnikov, with a quick reaction, beat John Carlson and defeated Logan Thompson at 12:34 of the second period, scoring the first goal of the game and starting Carolina’s offense.
Jack Roslovic and Eric Robinson also contributed goals for the Hurricanes, extending the lead on the scoreboard. Jackson Blake sealed the victory with a power-play goal.
“(Andersen) could have had one of the best games he’s played for us,” commented Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour.

Despite a promising start by the Capitals, the Hurricanes managed to control the game, especially after Svechnikov’s goal.
Logan Thompson, Washington’s goalie, made 24 saves, but his team only managed 10 shots in the last 39 minutes of the game.
Carolina’s Jordan Martinook had to leave the game, although coach Brind’Amour did not offer details about his condition.
The fourth game of the series will be played on Monday night in Raleigh.
