Middleweight Clash of Titans: Alimkhanuly vs. Lara
A middleweight unification fight between Janibek Alimkhanuly and Erislandy Lara is scheduled for December 6th. The bout will be part of the undercard of the main event Lamont Roach Jr. vs. Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz, which will take place at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.
The event will be broadcast as part of PBC’s pay-per-view on Prime Video.
Alimkhanuly currently holds the IBF and WBO titles, while Lara is the WBA champion.
Lara’s last fight (31-3-3, 19 KOs) was in September 2024, where he managed to stop Danny Garcia. At 42 years old, the Cuban is the longest-reigning champion in boxing and remains undefeated in his last seven fights. His last defeat was against Jarrett Hurd in 2018.
Alimkhanuly (17-0, 12 KOs) defeated Anauel Ngamissengue in the fifth round in April. The Kazakh boxer has finished ten of his last eleven opponents before the distance and has been WBO champion since 2022. In 2023, he conquered the IBF belt by knocking out Vincenzo Gualtieri. Lara will represent a significant challenge for Alimkhanuly, who seeks to add the WBA title to his record.
