Justin Rose Withdraws from the Truist Championship Due to Illness

Golfer Justin Rose, recent Masters runner-up, was forced to withdraw from the Truist Championship before the third round due to an illness.

Rose, who lost to Rory McIlroy in a playoff at Augusta National Golf Club on April 13, had struggled in the first two rounds of the Truist Championship at the Philadelphia Cricket Club.

On Friday, in the rain, Rose signed a card of 77 strokes (+7), placing her in the lower part of the leaderboard in this featured event without a cut.

After feeling progressively unwell in recent days, I have made the unfortunate decision to withdraw. I am not in a condition to compete and it is best that I focus on a prompt recovery before next week.

The PGA Championship, the second major of the season, will be played next week at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Rose, with 11 PGA Tour victories, has finished in second place in the last two majors. He tied for second place in last year’s Open Championship at Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland, two strokes behind winner Xander Schauffele.

Michael Kim is also Retiring Due to Injury

Michael Kim, who was going to play with Rose on Saturday, withdrew from the Truist Championship during the third round due to a back injury, according to the PGA Tour.

My back wasn’t right at the start of the week and it got worse over the last two days. I will receive treatment and look to return as soon as possible.

Kim, who started the season in 155th place in the Official World Golf Ranking, has climbed to 53rd place with three top-10 finishes in his first 13 tour appearances.
