Forward Jonah Gadjovich and the Florida Panthers have reached an agreement to extend his contract for two years and $1.8 million. This agreement ensures Gadjovich’s stay with the team until the 2027-28 season, as announced by the team on Sunday. Gadjovich has accumulated six goals and three assists in 84 games during three seasons with the Panthers. He stood out in last season’s Stanley Cup playoffs, scoring two goals, one of them crucial against the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Game 7 victory, and adding an assist.
The extension announcement coincided with Gadjovich’s 27th birthday. In the three games this season, Gadjovich has recorded an assist and leads the team with 11 hits. Throughout his career, Gadjovich has accumulated 19 points in 163 games, playing for Florida, San Jose, and Vancouver. He was selected in the second round of the 2017 NHL draft by Vancouver, at number 55. With the Panthers, Gadjovich averages 19.7 hits per 60 minutes, the best on the team. Gadjovich, who could have been an unrestricted free agent after this season, joins Aleksander Barkov, Matthew Tkachuk, Sam Reinhart, Sam Bennett, Carter Verhaeghe, Brad Marchand, Anton Lundell, Evan Rodrigues, Eetu Luostarinen, and Jesper Boqvist as the eleven forwards under contract for next season. It’s possible that a twelfth forward, Mackie Samoskevich, who could become a restricted free agent, will also sign a new contract later this season.Jonah has become a fundamental piece in our locker room and a key player on the ice. He possesses a bold attitude and relentless competitiveness, and we are excited for him to continue with us in South Florida.
