Leclerc Expresses Frustration After Singapore Grand Prix

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc expressed his disappointment after the Singapore Grand Prix, describing the team’s current situation as “not a pleasant feeling.” Leclerc, who finished in sixth position, lamented the lack of competitiveness of the car and the difficulty in fighting for prominent positions. Ferrari has yet to achieve a victory in the 2026 season, while teams like McLaren, Red Bull, and Mercedes have celebrated wins, even after the summer break. George Russell of Mercedes took the victory in Singapore, while Leclerc and his teammate, Lewis Hamilton, struggled with brake problems. Leclerc revealed that, from the eighth lap, brake management was the main challenge, complicating his race. An image of Leclerc having to lift his foot off the accelerator to save fuel, while being overtaken by the Mercedes driver, Kimi Antonelli, has gone viral.

Leclerc was honest about Ferrari’s current position on the grid.

Unfortunately, we don’t have the car to fight with those ahead. McLaren has always had the same difference with us compared to the beginning of the year. Red Bull took a step from Monza and is at the same level as McLaren.

Furthermore, Leclerc pointed out that Mercedes is now at the same level as McLaren and Red Bull, while Ferrari struggles to remain competitive. The driver admitted that it is not easy, as the team feels like “passengers” in the car, unable to extract more performance. Compared to the previous year, where Ferrari competed with McLaren until the last race, the current situation is a reminder of the drop in performance. Leclerc acknowledged that it’s not the most difficult season, but the lack of victories and the need to adjust expectations are challenges. The driver concluded that, although the situation requires a lot of energy, it motivates him to change it. He admitted that it is difficult, especially after a race like the one in Singapore, where you can’t fight for the podium and you have to manage many problems, which generates “not a pleasant feeling”.
