However, not everything was joy for the Blue Jays. In the same first inning, outfielder Nathan Lukes suffered an injury when hitting a ball on his right knee. Despite the pain, Lukes remained in the game and managed to negotiate a walk after 12 pitches. Subsequently, he was replaced by Myles Straw at the beginning of the fourth inning. The team reported that Lukes suffered a knee contusion and was being evaluated. Lukes had an outstanding performance in the divisional series against the Yankees, batting 4-12 with five RBIs, including a key two-run single in game four, and a spectacular catch in game one. The Blue Jays ended up losing the first game of the series with a score of 3-1.
