Alex De Minaur Reaches 50 Wins in the Season

Tennis player Alex De Minaur, seeded number seven, became the third player of the season to reach 50 victories in professional-level tournaments. He achieved this after defeating Nuno Borges with scores of 7-5 and 6-2 in the Shanghai Masters this Wednesday. De Minaur displayed a dominant game, connecting 19 winning shots in a match that lasted one hour and 47 minutes, thus securing his pass to the quarterfinals of a Masters 1000 for the seventh time in his career. Only Carlos Alcaraz, with 67 victories, and Taylor Fritz, with 50, had previously managed to reach this mark in 2025. In his previous best season, De Minaur accumulated 47 wins in 2024, including two titles. In the next round, De Minaur will face Daniil Medvedev, who, seeded number 16, defeated Learner Tien with a score of 7-6 (6), 6-7 (1) and 6-4. On the other hand, Félix Auger-Aliassime, seeded number 12, eliminated Lorenzo Musetti, who was the eighth seed, with a score of 6-4 and 6-2. This secures him a place in the quarterfinals against Arthur Rinderknech. Rinderknech surprised by defeating Jiri Lehecka, number 15, with scores of 6-3 and 7-6 (5). Rinderknech, currently ranked 54th, had previously eliminated Alexander Zverev, the third seed, and now joins his cousin Valentin Vacherot in the quarterfinals.
