Steven Fisk Wins Sanderson Farms Championship

In an exciting final round, Steven Fisk demonstrated his determination by securing his first victory on the PGA Tour, conquering the Sanderson Farms Championship with an impressive finish. Fisk sealed the triumph with crucial birdies on the last three holes, culminating in a score of 8 under par and a total of 64. The competition remained close with Garrick Higgo, who also starred in a great performance. Both golfers separated in the final holes, offering a memorable spectacle for the spectators. After a tie, Fisk missed a birdie putt on the 15th hole. However, this mistake didn’t stop him. On the 16th hole, he made a 40-foot birdie putt. Higgo responded with his own birdie, but Fisk kept the pressure on. On the 17th hole, Fisk got close to the hole and secured another birdie, while Higgo missed a crucial putt. Fisk sealed his victory with a final birdie on the 18th hole, surpassing Higgo by two strokes.

Fisk’s victory, with a total of 24 under par, grants him significant benefits, including a two-year exemption until 2027. This achievement is especially significant for the 28-year-old player, who hails from Georgia Southern and was part of the Walker Cup team in 2019. Higgo, despite a complicated start in the second half of the course, reacted with four consecutive birdies to tie Fisk. Although a missed putt on the 17th hole prevented him from staying in contention.

“My goal was to birdie every hole,” Higgo commented. “Steven did the same, so congratulations to him.”

Danny Walker, who was also in the match, tied for third place with Vince Whaley and Rasmus Hojgaard. Hojgaard advanced in the FedEx Cup ranking, while Whaley and Walker also improved their positions.

“I hope to be less stressed around the 100th position,” Walker said.
